The Locations
Production

After months of negotiation, Entity was shot, in classified locations, throughout February 2011. The nature of the locations was contractually confidential and access was limited to a shooting period of eighteen days. There would be no possibility of later pick ups or reshoots as most of the locations would be made inaccessible during the later months of 2011. These locations were extremely challenging in terms of practicality, accessibility, safety and the temperatures that the cast and crew had to contend with. It felt, at times, as if everything was stacked against them.

A crew of thirty two and a core cast of six actors battled daily with locations that were unyielding in their difficulty. The process was made all the more pressurised by the fact that any delay in the almost impossible daily schedule of the film could result in the film being incomplete at the end of the allotted shooting time. "All of us felt that pressure every hour that we were in those locations," says Director, Steve Stone, who shudders at the memory of those days shooting Entity. "All I can do is tell you that the crew were incredible in their dedication and we had a cast who hit every mark and line every time they were called upon. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to them all. One weak link and we would have stood no chance in completing the filming. There was no weak link on that set. We were very lucky as a production company to have such a group assembled around us."

Entity shot in its allotted time and the crew members that were the last to leave those buildings were amongst the last people to ever set foot in them. Some of those spaces have rightfully been demolished. Some will stand empty and forgotten for years to come.
